The Person

Education / Professional Qualification

• Degree qualification in Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Advanced degrees such as MBA or any Master’s in the same field is preferred.
• Membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountant (MICPA), etc. is preferred.

Professional Experience

• 5 - 7 years of working experience in corporate finance, investment, consulting or any related working experience.
• Proven experience in developing structured problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, ability to develop new ideas and conceptualise new strategic approaches and solutions.

The Job

Support Strategy Division efforts to drive mid to long-term corporate planning process, planning key analysis, reporting and driving strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with UMW Division and SDB’s 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Portfolio Monitoring

• Prepare investment portfolio reports to support executive decision-making and strategic planning tasks, ensuring alignment with UMW Division and SDB’s 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Business Assessments

• Prepare comprehensive business assessments of companies or divisions, including the evaluation of financial performance, identification of opportunities, challenges and provision of investment risk assessment.

Business Development Initiatives

• Prepare evaluation papers with regards to collaboration opportunities, manage projects and support the UMW Head of Strategy and the Head of Corporate Finance in developing joint venture (JV) or equity partnership proposals as and when required.

Acquisition / Divestment Initiatives

• Prepare evaluation papers and assess potential opportunities, manage projects and engage internal and external stakeholders • To support the UMW Head of Strategy and the Head of Corporate Finance in conducting ad-hoc assessments of acquisitions and divestments. • Support the UMW Head of Strategy and the Head Corporate Finance in negotiating deals related to acquisitions and divestments.
