Assistant Vice President II, Special Projects Job

The Person

Education / Professional Qualification

• Degree qualification in Engineering or a related field.
• Advanced degrees such as MBA or any Master’s in the same field is preferred.

Professional Experience

• 9 - 12 years of working experience in with advanced industrial technologies, engineering, advanced manufacturing, sustainability or strategy related field.
• Proven experience in the curation of business developments, supported by knowledge in sustainable development.
• Established and strong connections with key government agencies, including MIDA, MITI, and MARI, facilitating effective collaboration and strategic partnerships. 

The Job

Lead and coordinate mid to long-term Special Project initiatives, identifying opportunities, providing key analysis, reporting and driving strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with UMW Division and SDB’s 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Special Projects 

• Identify and evaluate emerging sustainable business opportunities that align with the strategic goals for the UMW Division and the SDB 5-Year Strategic Plan.
• Champion UMW's role in driving the development of emerging sustainable technologies in Malaysia.

Project Management 

• Support the Head of Strategy in the development of comprehensive business plans including but not limited to creating proposed revenue models and identifying and managing relationships with strategic and technical partners.
• Formulate compelling value proposition and outline detailed business execution plan, ensuring the UMW Division is future-ready.

Monitoring & Reporting 

• Oversee and lead the preparation of comprehensive reports and updates on green and sustainable projects, to keep UMW Division Management informed on budgets, project timelines, challenges and mitigation strategies.
• Manage and conduct technology assessments regarding the special projects and make necessary recommendations to the UMW Division Management.

Government Engagements, Promotion & Vision Mapping 

• Maintain and support open and effective communication with government and industry partners to realize strategic initiatives aligned with national sustainability goals, facilitating collaboration and addressing concerns.
• Articulate a clear and compelling vision for UMW’s identified green and sustainable projects, aligning the vision with the overall UMW Division and SDB strategic goals.
• Serve as UMW’s primary point of contact for governmental agencies, seeking support and incentives for identified green and sustainable projects.

Talent Management 

• Support and motivate the team members of the Special Projects sub-function within UMW Division Strategy to achieve exceptional performance and professional growth.
